Brief Description

Founded in 1991, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is an international research university in Hong Kong excelling in Science, Engineering, Business and Management, as well as Humanities and Social Science. HKUST offers an international campus, and a holistic and interdisciplinary pedagogy to nurture well-rounded graduates with global vision, a strong entrepreneurial spirit and innovative thinking. Over 80% of our research work was rated “internationally excellent” or “world leading” in the Research Assessment Exercise 2020 of Hong Kong’s University Grants Committee. We are ranked 3rd in the Times Higher Education’s Young University Rankings 2024, while our graduates are ranked 29th worldwide and ranked 1st in Hong Kong in the Global University Employability Ranking 2023 among the best universities.

Established in 2022, The Hong Kong University Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) is a realized dream of HKUST. The groundbreaking cross-disciplinary academic structure of HKUST(GZ) under the "Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” Framework complements the well-established disciplinary foundation of  HKUST in Hong Kong and, together, create boundless synergistic possibilities. To align with the holistic and integrative approach, HKUST(GZ) adopts the unique Hub structure which facilitates cross-disciplinary education, research and knowledge transfer at its Guangzhou campus. 

Students of HKUST and HKUST(GZ) benefit from cross-campus collaboration through opportunities for cross-campus study and access to research facilities on both campuses.
