Campuses and Locations

UI operates two main campuses:

1. Depok Campus (Main Campus) – Located on a 320-hectare green area in Depok, West Java, serving as the primary hub for academic and research activities.

2. Salemba Campus (Jakarta) – Situated in Central Jakarta, this campus hosts postgraduate programs in medicine, dentistry, and public health.

In addition, UI maintains several teaching hospitals and research centers that support its academic and professional training programs.

Library Collections

The UI Central Library houses one of the most comprehensive academic collections in Indonesia, with over 3 million physical and digital items, including books, journals, theses, research papers, and electronic databases.     Academic Programs Open for International Students

    UI offers International Class (KKI) scheme taught fully in English in collaboration with top global universities. Programs include:

    Applications for 2025 intake are open from Feb – June through the UI Admission Portal https://admission.ui.ac.id. Results are announced in June, with classes commencing in September.

    Tuition for International Students

    1. Fee

    Tuition fees vary by faculty and International Class programs. On average USD 3,000 – 4,000 per semester.


    2. Payment Period

    Payments are made per semester, prior to course registration (July - August).

    Financial Aid

    UI does not offer financial aid for International Undergraduate (KKI) programs. However, limited external funding such as The Indonesian AID Scholarship is available for eligible students from certain partner countries.

    UI provides single and double occupancy rooms at the UI Dormitory (Asrama UI) located within the Depok Campus. Each unit is furnished with a bed, study desk, and shared bathroom facilities.

    Meal Expenses at Campus Canteens

    Meals at campus canteens cost around IDR 15,000–30,000 (USD 1–2) per meal. A student typically spends IDR 1,200,000–1,800,000 (USD 75–120) per month for meals.

    Campus Life Guide

    UI offers a vibrant campus experience with over 150 student organizations, including international student clubs, cultural groups, and sports associations. The Directorate for Internationalization of Education provides arrival orientation, visa assistance, and academic advising. The Depok Campus features a lakeside green environment with cafes, shuttle buses, co-working spaces, sports facilities, and 24-hour study areas — fostering both academic focus and social engagement.

  • Postgraduate Programs

    Number of Registered Students (Both Domestic and International)

    Universitas Indonesia has over 16,000 postgraduate students, including approximately 800 international students enrolled in various Master’s, Doctoral, and Professional programs. The international cohort comes from ASEAN countries, East Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, reflecting UI’s growing role as a regional hub for advanced education and research.

    Academic Programs Open for International Students

    UI offers a wide range of postgraduate programs open to international students across multiple disciplines. Most programs are Indonesian-taught, with several research-based programs that allow international students to conduct independent studies under the supervision of UI faculty members. In addition, certain programs are offered in English-taught classes, notably the Master of Management – International Business Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business.

    Programs open for international students are organized under the following Faculties from academic cluster :

    1. Health Sciences Cluster

    Encompasses the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Public Health, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Pharmacy.

    Programs offered include master’s and doctoral studies in public health, clinical and biomedical sciences, tropical medicine, health policy, and community nursing — combining coursework with research-based learning and professional training.

    2. Science and Technology Cluster)

    Includes the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Computer Science.

    Programs cover areas such as sustainable engineering, renewable energy, data science, artificial intelligence, material science, and environmental technology. Many research programs collaborate with industries and global partners to promote innovation and applied research.

    3. Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities Cluster

    Covers the Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences,  and Faculty of Administration Science.

    Programs emphasize global perspectives in law, economics, international business, behavioral sciences, communication, and public policy, blending theory, research, and real-world application.

    4. School of Environmental Science dan School of Strategic and Global Studies

    School of Environmental Science offers interdisciplinary master’s and doctoral programs focused on sustainability, environmental governance, climate resilience, and ecosystem management, combining science-based and policy-oriented approaches.School of Strategic and Global Studies provides multidisciplinary programs on global policy, regional studies, leadership, and security issues. Designed for professionals and researchers, the programs foster critical analysis of strategic challenges in a rapidly changing global environment.

    Financial Aid

    UI provides limited scholarships for international students based on academic excellence and need.   • Short-term Programs

    Universitas Indonesia offers a wide range of short-term programs designed to provide international students with academic enrichment and intercultural experience.

    - UI Summer Programs such as UI CREATES (Credit Earning Program for International Students) allow students to take academic courses for transfer credits while experiencing Indonesian culture and society.

    - Exchange and Mobility Programs are available through bilateral agreements and international consortia, enabling students to study at UI for one semester or a short academic term.

    - Customized Short Courses are offered in collaboration with faculties and partner institutions, focusing on topics such as public health, sustainable development, tropical medicine, Indonesian economy, language, and culture.These programs combine academic learning with field visits, workshops, and cultural immersion, providing participants with first-hand understanding of Indonesia’s dynamic social and academic landscape.
