On 9 November 2018, a book launch and roundtable discussion was held for the inaugural Asian Higher Education Outlook 2018 (AHEO) at Tsinghua University. The event was moderated by Professor MENG Bo, Associate Dean of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Tsinghua University.
Over ten representatives from AUA member universities, who comprise part of the research team for the second annual report, traveled to Beijing for the event from Chulalongkorn University, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, National University of Singapore, Nazarbayev University, University of Colombo, University of Malaya and University of Yangon. The event also welcomed members from the Institute of Education of Tsinghua University, including two of the book's authors Professor ZHONG Zhou and Professor SHI Jinghuan.

Professor Zhong, leading author of the AHEO 2018 delivered a speech expressing her gratitude to all those who had contributed to making the first AHEO a great success. Professor Milind Sohoni from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay made a speech commending the effort of Professor Zhong as well as her co-authors Professor SHI Jinghuan and Professor Kevin McKonkey of the University of New South Wales.
Professor Hamish Coates of the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University also offered his congratulations on the publication of the AHEO 2018 and he made reference to the impact the book could have on Asian higher education.
President Bundhit Eua-arporn of Chulalongkorn University (AUA Executive President 2017-2018), Rector Muhammad Anis of Universitas Indonesia (AUA Executive President 2018-2019) and Vice Chancellor Lakshman Dissanayake of University of Colombo (AUA Executive President 2019-2020) recorded video messages of their well wishes for the success of the AHEO book launch and publication. They each espoused their ongoing commitment to furthering institutional cooperation through the AUA.

Professor Yang delivered a speech congratulating all involved for their effort in producing such a comprehensive and insightful book on Asian higher education. He noted that the publication of the AHEO 2018 was a milestone for the AUA, in addition to all the successful AUA programs and activities which have already taken place.
