AUA Lecture Series 2021: Young Asian Economists is coming!

In September 2021, AUA will launch a joint online lecture series as an attempt and first step towards the long-term goal of an online shared course. At the suggestion of all member universities, the theme of the lecture series will be "The challenges and opportunities of Asian economies in the COVID-19 and post COVID-19 era”.

The aim of the lecture series is to have both students and audience members gain a level of understanding about different Asian economies and offer the AUA students an opportunity to study from and have discussions with other students of Asia.

The duration of the lecture series is 15 weeks, one lecture per week. Each lecture is conducted by a member university and will consist of the following 2 parts:

Part A) a 50-minute lecture introducing the challenges and opportunities of their country’s economy during the COVID-19 or post COVID-19 era;

Part B) a 40-minute freely-designed teaching session, which may include case analyses, multi-panelist debates, interviews, discussion groups, a combination of any two components, and/or any other innovative interactive teaching method.

There are two ways students can participate in the program:

1) Students can apply to be the regular participant nominated by the AUA member universities. They constitute as the main body of students, participating and interacting with the lectures. Attendance will be recorded and the regular participants will earn a certificate of completion if they complete at least 80% of the lectures, and academic assignments. The nomination form has been sent to the liaison of each member university.  

2) Students can also register for a particular lecture or a number of lectures. As an audience member, they may sit in on the lectures and ask questions, but their attendance will not be recorded and a certificate will not be awarded.
