Splendor of Asian Cultural Heritage Exhibition displayed in Hong Kong

The Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Splendor of Asian Cultural Heritage Photo Exhibition was on display in Shaw Auditorium at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from November 7 to 9, 2023. It was jointly hosted by AUA, Tsinghua SIGS, and HKUST.


The exhibition featured twelve prize-winning and forty-eight shortlisted photographs from the Splendor of Asian Cultural Heritage Photo Contest, part of the Embracing Asian Diversity Series, which took place earlier this year. The contest was hosted by AUA and organized by Tsinghua SIGS.


On the afternoon of November 9, Secretary for Education in Hong Kong Choi Yuk-lin and AUA Executives' Meeting delegates, including AUA Executive President and HKUST President Nancy Y. Ip, University of Colombo Vice Chancellor Hettige Don Karunaratne, and Nazarbayev University Acting President Ilesanmi Adesida, visited the exhibition.


AUA Secretary Zhang Chuanjie, also associate dean of Tsinghua SIGS, briefly introducedthe exhibition and photo contest to the delegates. He further highlighted that all fifteen member universities participated in the photo contest this year. He also commended participants on their excellent photographs which showcased the splendor of Asia’s cultural heritage and the efforts of Asian countries to promote and protect it.


Two-time contest participant and HKUST PhD student Ali Safari shared the story behind his honorably mentioned photograph,The colorful Boat, with delegates.


In addition to HKUST, the exhibition was previously displayed in Shenzhen at the New Era Civilization Practice Center in Honey Park. It is currently on display at Xiangmihu Flower Wonderland in Honey Park until November 20. After, the exhibition will move to the Qiaoxiang Community and then to the SIGS campus.
