From August 20 to August 26, 2023, the AUA Overseas Study Program 2023 on “Shaping a Sustainable Future Through Application of Knowledge-based Smart Materials” was successfully hosted by Universiti Malaya virtually. The 23 participants came from five universities: Universitas Indonesia, Universiti Malaya, Chulalongkorn University, Peking University and Tsinghua University.

The program offers a unique and comprehensive exploration of Knowledge-based Smart Materials and sustainable energy solutions. With a diverse range of expert speakers, engaging seminars, interactive forums, and hands-on workshops, this program equipped participants with the knowledge and insights required to address pressing global challenges in the field of sustainable energy.

The program includes practical courses to equip participants with practical skills in smart materials and sustainable energy technologies. Through seminars, forums, and discussions with industry experts and academics, participants build valuable professional networks and relevant collaborations with experts and peers in the field.

Prof. Dr Ramesh Subramaniam delivered a compelling presentation titled "Integration between Electrodes and Electrolytes for Efficient Energy Devices," exploring innovative approaches to enhance energy efficiency. Following him, Prof. Wan Haliza captivated the audience with her talk, "Let There Be Light," shedding light on the transformative potential of light in various applications.

Participants enriched their understanding of smart materials and their application in sustainable energy technologies from their interactions with the speakers, and motivated participants to contribute to the future of sustainable energy.
By the end of the program, participants had gained not only advanced insights into smart materials and sustainable energy technologies but also a renewed inspiration to innovate and contribute to the global pursuit of sustainability. This initiative successfully empowered participants with the technical knowledge, professional connections, and motivation to make meaningful impacts in their respective fields.
