The AUA Academic Conference: Women in Optics and Photonics in India-Asia was held in Mumbai, India, from December 6th to 8th, 2024. A total of 244 scholars from six member universities as well as other universities, participated in the conference. The conference was dedicated to encouraging women's participation in the fields of optics and photonics, showcasing the outstanding work of women researchers, engineers and leaders, and inspiring more women scholars to join the field of optics and photonics. During the three days of the conference, the organizers have arranged a rich program of academic exchanges and seminars to promote knowledge and understanding of the field of optics and photonics, provide academic support for women scientists and help them build an academic network of friends across Asia.
The symposium part of the conference covered the fields of optical fabrication technologies, sensors, biophotonics, nanophotonics, etc. The organizers also showcased the achievements of successful women scientists in the field through a series of lectures, experience sharing by women scientists, and publication workshops, providing guidance to young women scholars in their research, teaching and development. The conference is not only a platform for academic exchanges, but also a friendly community that promotes women's innovation and growth in the field of optics and photonics, empowering women scholars and helping them better carry out scientific research.
